Sixty-five deacons are ordained to minister to the congregation of St. Andrew's. They are trained to visit in the hospitals, care-facilities and homes offering prayer, spiritual encouragement and comfort. Deacons stand ready to assist families in times of crisis and be prayer intercessors on behalf of the congregation. This is the biblical ministry the church is called to be and do.
Because of the privacy laws, we need you to please let us know when you are scheduled to be in the hospital and would llike a deacon to come and minister to you with prayer. Please call Lydia in Adult Education, 949.574.2235, if you desire a visit from your deacon.
Deacons meet monthly for training, fellowship, attending to deacon matters and prayer on behalf of the congregation.
Stephen Ministers are men and women who are trained to minister to one person for one hour on a weekly basis. The training will be useful for the rest of your life and enable you to minister to others in new and special ways.
The Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry that reaches out to those who are shut-in, discouraged, in crisis, or ill. This ministry also extends to those in our community who are in need of a listening, caring, supportive Christian friend. Stephen Ministers are not "fixers," they are care-givers and not cure-givers.
To learn more about becoming a Stephen Minister, contact Helen or Art Wardner at 714.731.6538, or Dr. Lydia Sarandan at 949.574.2235.
