The first ever Shred Day at St. Andrew’s, October 10, 2009, went great. About 125 people showed up throughout the day, from the church and the neighborhood. Many from St. Andrew’s appreciated the service given to them, as well as the environmentally friendly means of disposing of their old junk. There were also a number of folks from the local community who responded to the 2,500 flyers sent out on Serve Day and afterwards. Some simply wanted to get rid of their stuff in a safe, secure, and “green” way, while others were genuinely interested in the rationale behind a church doing such a thing. It’s fun to tell people that we care about God’s world and God’s people because he does—especially when it’s the service of the people of God that prompts the question! We had about 6,500 pounds of paper waste securely shredded and recycled, and about the same in e-waste safely recycled—everything from out-of-date computers, printers, and power plugs, to DVD players, old TV’s and even a record player! A number of volunteers also showed up to help throughout the day, sorting out e-waste, directing traffic, and transferring paper waste from cars to the recycle bins. All in all, the day was fun and fruitful, a great service to church members and a way to show our local community that we care about them. Check out the video and some pictures that captured that day!

Touching
our world through compassion ministries, leadership development:
enhancing the education of indigenous leaders, and social and
economic justice.
Our Heavenly
Father loves us with an extravagent abandon. Passionate,
uncalculated service is the only reasonable response. We
invite you to become an important part of our local and national
outreach efforts.
Short-Term
Mission opportunities abound to give back in gratitude as
well as to learn and grow from the experience of worship,
working and witnessing alongside committed Christians with
whom we partner, be it up the street and or across the ocean.
